The Undercover Spy Lab

In this lab, we examine a site that has been sold and see how we can replicate the results (without all the guesswork.)

The Site – CoffeeSupremacy.com

Flippa Listing - https://flippa.com/9800132-coffeesupremacy-com

Date Sold - 20th June 2018

Price Sold For - $19,000

Age of Site When Sold – 1 Year

Details – This is a good example of why you shouldn't be afraid to enter any niche. Coffee machines is a huge and competitive niche, yet this seller managed to get a site to $500 a month and sell it for $19,000 in just a year. It's all about coffee machines, espresso machines, coffee mugs and other items sold on Amazon.

Keywords Targeted – It targeted all types of coffee related terms.

Backlinks – The site has almost 900 links from 30 referring domains. Seller says he didn't use PBN links and all are natural.

What My Plan Would Be To Clone The Results – I would set up a brand new site using a domain name that has 'coffee' within it. I would then create 1,000 word content posts that target relevant keywords and place Amazon native ads on each page. I would most likely need to have 50+ posts on the site to become more of an authority in the niche but these can be added on an ongoing basis.

Potential keywords I would target:

coffee machine

coffee machine reviews

best coffee machine

coffee maker

best coffee maker

coffee maker reviews

coffee grinder

best coffee grinder

coffee grinder reviews

coffee brewer

best coffee brewer

coffee brewer reviews

and other related coffee product keywords found during research.

I would use social, Web 2.0 and PBN links to rank the site over the course of 12+ months. I would heavily focus on getting topically related and thematically related backlinks.

The aim would be to get to $1,000+ per month in profit and then sell for $30,000 - $40,000.

The Sniper Lab

The Sniper Lab is all about creating small 3-5 page websites that target buyer keywords with an Exact Match Domain (EMD).

You simply browse the Amazon marketplace to find products, then put those into the Google keyword planner and see what searches come up. Find one that gets 250+ searches a month that has a .com available domain and you're good to go!

You can use a free keyword tool like this one to get more accurate search volumes than the Google keyword planner now gives you.

These are really simple sites to make and each can make you 4 figures in profit when you sell them. They make great additions to add to your Amazon empire.

Here are some domains you can use right now (each one is available as I'm typing this but most have been used before due to the popularity of the niche):

bestsinglecupcoffeemaker.org - 4,400 searches per month

percolatorcoffeemaker.org - 1,300 searches per month

undercountercoffeemaker.org - 1,300 searches per month

coffeemachineforhome.net - 1,000 searches per month

highendcoffeemakers.net - 1,000 searches per month

bestespressocoffeemaker.net - 1,000 searches per month

14cupcoffeemaker.net - 1,000 searches per month

retrocoffeemaker.net - 1,000 searches per month

professionalespressomachine.net - 880 searches per month

besthomecoffeemachine.org - 880 searches per month

These will obviously be snapped up fast by members but give you an idea of what to look for. A new list will be added every month.

The Ranking Lab

Site Purchase Update

The site I purchased at the end of January has been making steady money from Amazon.

Profits so far:

February = $14.63

March = $57.01

April = $90.35

May = $62.33

June = $121.34

So that's $345.66 in profits and I paid $600 for it.

I am considering selling it soon. Maybe privately to one of my buyers or I may even list it on Flippa. Should be a fun test to see what it goes for.

I'll keep you posted!

The Q and A Lab

Questions that have been sent in this month:

Q – Do I see Google changing greatly in the future?

A – I don't think they could ever lose the purpose of what the site is all about. People will always need to find websites for information. They may change the structure of how/where they show ads and how many of them because they need to make money. But I think it's still well worth ranking websites and getting the free traffic for years to come.

Q – My site just won't rank. It's 2 months old and I've sent 20 links so far. What's wrong?

A – I get this question a lot. Unfortunately you just can't rank for any medium competition keywords in that time frame these days. You can rank long tails still but anything worth ranking for is going to take you 4-8 months. Just keep linking steadily, adding content if required and you'll keep rising in the rankings.

Q – Have you ever tried CPA programs?

A – I generally just stick to Amazon these days. I used to do Market Health products but found they are high priced and don't convert very well. Main problem with CPA marketing is getting approved for the programs which usually require a phone call.

Q – Do I use paid advertising?

A – For Amazon affiliate sites, it's hard to make paid advertising work. But for eCommerce and higher ticket products, then paid advertising is well worth a go. I generally just stick to free traffic from Google for the most part though.
