The Undercover Spy Lab
In this lab, we examine a site that has been sold and see how we can replicate the results (without all the guesswork.)
The Site – ProductAdvisor.com
Flippa Listing - https://flippa.com/9816778-productadvisor-com
Date Sold - 22nd June 2018
Price Sold For - $14,000
Age of Site When Sold – 18 months
Details – This is a good example that shows how broad niche sites can still be very effective. Sold after a year and a half of being built for a cool 5 figures. It targets products from lots of categories, with well researched keywords and lengthy 3,000 word articles.
Keywords Targeted – It targeted several categories and products including press on nails, garage lighting through to work boots.
Backlinks – The site has almost 84 links from 49 referring domains. It was built on an aged domain name which appears to have been used for HD wallpapers and many links are for that.
What My Plan Would Be To Clone The Results – I would set up a brand new site using a domain name that was broad enough to target different niches. I would then create 3,000 word content posts that target relevant keywords and place Amazon native ads on each page. I would most likely need to have 50+ posts on the site to become more of an authority but these can be added on an ongoing basis.
Potential keywords I would target, based on what the site is ranking for:
tai chi shoes
best press on nails
best garage lighting
best oilfield work boots
best diy guitar kits
best car drying towel
best gas can
best kitchen degreaser
best laminator for teachers
and other related coffee product keywords found during research.
I would use social, Web 2.0 and PBN links to rank the site over the course of 12+ months. I would heavily focus on getting topically related and thematically related backlinks.
The aim would be to get to $1,000+ per month in profit and then sell for $30,000 - $40,000.
The Sniper Lab
The Sniper Lab is all about creating small 3-5 page websites that target buyer keywords with an Exact Match Domain (EMD).
You simply browse the Amazon marketplace to find products, then put those into the Google keyword planner and see what searches come up. Find one that gets 250+ searches a month that has a .com available domain and you're good to go!
You can use a free keyword tool like this one to get more accurate search volumes than the Google keyword planner now gives you.
These are really simple sites to make and each can make you 4 figures in profit when you sell them. They make great additions to add to your Amazon empire.

Here are some domains you can use right now (each one is available as I'm typing this but most have been used before due to the popularity of the niche):
taichiuniform.org - 590 searches per month
taichipants.org - 320 searches per month
bestpressonnails.com - 2,900 searches per month
bestnailglue.com - 1,900 searches per month
garagelightingoutdoor.com - 2,900 searches per month
garagelightfixtures.net - 1,900 searches per month
sliponsteeltoeshoes.com - 1,900 searches per month
menswinterworkboots.com - 1,900 searches per month
diybassguitarkit.com - 1,300 searches per month
diyelectricguitarkit.com - 1,000 searches per month
These will obviously be snapped up fast by members but give you an idea of what to look for. A new list will be added every month.
The Ranking Lab
Site Purchase Update
I decided to sell the site I purchased back in January. It went up for auction on Flippa and I had a lot of interest in it, which eventually led to it being sold for $2,497.
Quick stats:
So I paid $600 for it.
In Amazon commissions it made $390.66
And sold for $2,497
Making a total profit of $2,287.66 (less Paypal and Flippa fees).
Considering I don't buy that many sites, this one has certainly made me want to explore buying more of them and flipping for profits.
The Q and A Lab
Questions that have been sent in this month:
Q – Have you noticed any big changes in Google recently?
A – Nothing huge. The way we do the backlinks certainly helps to keep rankings stable, even after large updates roll out.
Q – Do you build EMD sites?
A – I do still build EMD sites but prefer to build larger, authority style sites these days. My EMD sites are generally chosen based on keywords my larger sites are doing well with.
Q – Building my own PBN network looks to be expensive, can I not just rent links?
A – You can but you have no real control over the links. They might drop off from homepages and they might leave footprints. If you want total control, then I recommend building your own.
Q – How do you choose a profitable niche?
A – I build a lot of sites based on what I see selling on Flippa. Sites that sell for $10k+ can easily be copied to get similar results. You can find the keywords they are ranking for, see how many backlinks they have and model the site structure. No point trying to reinvent the wheel, just copy what works.
